We went out of town for a few weeks. Had someone very dependable take care of all my furkids. They are all fine with one lil problem.

Honey has clumps of fur (her own) all in her "nest". We did have some cold nights while we were gone. Is this their way of making a warm bed? Or is she "nesting".?

To look at her you cant tell she has any fur missing. She looks perfectly fine.

Thanks!

She is probably nesting. Is she fixed? lol Also, could it possibly be a build of shedded fur? Just a thought.

Sometimes female buns will have "fake pregnancies" where they will pull their fur to make a nest and get all prepared even though they can't have any babies. As long as she has been spayed, you should be fine. ;-)

Sometimes even a spayed rabbit will nest.. Or it could be from stress. Some rabbits do NOT like changes in routine or having someone new care for them, no matter how temporarily.

As long as she's spayed (or at least not near any un-neutered males!) and you can't see where she's actually pulling the fur from (most likely chest and belly) or it stops within the next week or so, I wouldn't worry about it.

Sometimes when stressed out they'll also pull fur from each other.. So if you have more than one bun, check the other one as well for any developing thin spots in the fur.

She is not fixed. She is our only bunny so I can't see spending the money. I also do not take her outside so I don't think parasites are a problem. Its not normal shedding...its clumps...so I'm guessing she is nesting. She's about 6 months old. I think she missed me too. She is letting me HOLD her and cuddle her which she wouldnt do at all before I left! LOL!

I'll keep an eye on her also. Thanks so much!

Nesting.  Baby my bun did the same thing at the same age and she wasn't fixed.

You really should get your bun fixed, even if she is the only one you have.  It will reduce her chances of getting cancer by 80% and make her life so much nicer.
