Saturday suprisingly turned out to be a beautiful day. September around here has been nicer than most of the summer amazingly enough but a cold front came through on Sunday and changed things around big time. Cold and windy today, only 52 outside right now at 12:50PM. Anyway on Saturday I decided to take advantage of the nice day and since dh was busy took Brionna over to a friends house and I headed to a park about 20 min north of here to check out the Fall colors. There are lots of trees turning around that area but right along the river it has just started. I got there later than I would have liked to so my pics didn't turn out as nicely as they could have. In the late afternoon the sun was shining directly down the river and the shadows were dark and the highlights were sometimes washed out but I did get a few that I liked. Weather providing I may head back up there this coming weekend.

This was along the trail....loved how the moss covers everything in some areas. The trail is just really cool, very secluded and quiet.

Because of the trees on my side of the river I couldn't see the pretty colors in the actual trees but you sure could see the reflection in the river. Kind of a different shot....

Sun was behind the clouds for a bit for this shot.....

Just Beautiful Donna! I bet when more of the trees turn it will be so awesome. That's one thing I really miss from living in the east, the trees changing colors.

Wow! Only 52, we are still in the upper 90's here, but they say this week we are going down to the mid 70s, LOL.  At least it's cool at night in the 70's. I heard they had snow already in northern Colorado.

Try and take some when more of the trees have changed. Have any of your birds migrated yet?

I planted two small shade trees in my yard, sure hope they make it through the winter.

TFS!

Thanks Doris! It looks like this Sunday may be nice so if I get up there I may have more photos to share. Fall colors are spectacular but once they are done things get pretty ugly looking until the first snowfall that coats the branches and the ground. Feels cold enough for snow today! Supposed to get frost tonight. Brrrr!!

Oops, forgot to add some of the birds have left for the Winter, Orioles, Hummers, Cat birds and Thrashers, don't even see many Robins anymore. Bluebirds are still here and have been eating mealworms like crazy the last two days. They usually leave by the end of Oct.

Wow Donna! Those pics are great! I can't imagine how great they would have been if the lighting had been "right"- LOL. I love when the trees change here but ours haven't really started yet. It got into the 40's last night. I haven't heard any frost warnings for NC thank goodness.
