If you are like me, you have apples coming out of your ears!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have gotten so many from my in-laws. They have 2 apples trees and had quite a good crop. So, here are some ideas
5 time-shaving and delicious ways to cook with fall apples
1. Sauté chopped apples along with onions and add to your favorite chicken soup recipe. Add a pinch of curry powder for an exotic twist.
2. Add chopped apples as the last-minute garnish to your favorite green salad. Add crumbled blue cheese and toasted walnuts, too.
3. Peel and slice fresh apples of any type. Place them in a saucepan with just a smidgen of water, enough so that they do not stick. Cover and cook over low heat until the apples are tender, then season with sugar to taste and mash with a fork to soften the apples.
4. Alternate pieces of cooked smoked sausage and apple quarters on skewers and grill until lightly browned. Serve with honey mustard and potato pancakes.
5. For an easy apple pie, thaw a puff pastry rectangle and place it on a baking sheet. Cover it with a pile of apple slices, season with sugar, and dot with butter. Bake at 375 degrees until puff pastry bakes up around apples. Turn down temperature as needed after pastry begins to brown so that the apples will cook through.
