Bachelor Party in Mexico...

My fiance just booked a one week, all inclusive trip to Cancun for his bachelor party.  So far, there are 15 guys who have paid their deposit or the full fare.

I'm not worried about him being unfaithful or anything - I'm troubled by the idea of these men together for 7 days of absolute mayhem.  I travelled to Punta Cana with 5 of these guys and their wives in January, and they got into enough trouble then, with someone there to tell them to stop drinking, behave, etc.  My fiance and I even got an unplanned tour of the local hospital when we had to attend after an ATV accident (because the guys were not following the rules, and showing off for one another)!

None of the wives, or myself, are very happy about this excursion. One of the guys even lied to his wife, and told her that he had to go because he was the best man - we're not having a wedding party.

What are your thoughts? How would you react if this was your fiance and his friends? Is my concern well-founded, or unnecessary?

Hi penguin313282,

I'm probably a little old fashioned when it comes to things like bachelor and bachelorette parties, not that I'm old or anything. lol!

To me a bachelor or bachelorette party should be just that--a party.  Not a week long vacation, or even a long weekend.  It's not carte blanche to misbehave and it's not an excuse to spend a ton of money.  I just can't follow the philosophy behind how these rites of passage, and traditions, have transformed into what they have.  I know that my husband and I have been invited on bachelor/bachelorette parties that involve anything from a day long party including golf, dinner, bar hopping, baseball games, and strip joints to long weekends renting a boat on a lake.

Out of curiosity what are your plans for your bachelorette party?
