I wish I could take the credit for coming up with this terminology but have to admit I came across it on a CFBC forum I visit in the UK. Thought it might get a laugh on here.

The "B!tch & Backpedal"

This is a two-step process that starts with a mother moaning to a (childfree) friend or colleague about what her life is like.

Examples:

I'm constantly exhausted, the kids keep me awake all night!
I can't shift the extra pounds round my middle after having 3 kids!
I haven't had sex for 6 months!
I'm always broke, all the stuff my kids need is so expensive!
I haven't had a decent night out in years!
I never have a moment to myself, I'm always being the kids' taxi service!
My kids are acting SO ungrateful, nothing I say or do pleases them!

At this point, the CF woman interjects with a comment such as "Blimey! I'm so glad I don't have any kids!"

This triggers the second part of the process which is the Backpedal and you can get your bingo cards out for the ensuing torrent which is a complete turnaround from what was being said just moments ago....

"Having children is the most fulfilling and rewarding experience in the world, you'll never know what real love is until you have children, seeing yourself in another little person makes it all worthwhile, but you will never understand until you have your own, and you're just selfish because you don't have kids and you can do what you like, but you will change your mind one day you just haven't met the right man yet"

:D

That is a fantastic term!

It is only the women that I notice that do both.  I usually get the "don't have kids they suck the life out of you, drain your bank account... but I love them so much, wouldn't trade them for the world"

Guys will just bitch about how private school costs so much, how the kids are ruining the car.... and then they turn around and finish doing their work, no back pedaling.

I had to listen to that garbage yesterday!  After listening to all the complaining I said and people question my decision to remain CF.  Then I got the well I wouldn't give my kids up for the world.  Good, I'm glad, and I wouldn't give up my CF lifestyel or my dogs/cats for the world either :)

slk, have you checked out the website www.truuconfessions.com and clicked on the "Mom" one?  There are so many women that go on there to anonymously bitch about how much it sucks to be a mom and how their husbands never help out, etc.  But I bet in real life, if you asked them why they even had kids to begin with, they'd say "Oh, it's all worth it in the end!"  Yeah, riiiiiiight.  At least men can be honest about it and just say "Yeah, don't have kids, they're too expensive and they usually annoy the crap out of you".  LMAO!
