I have a mild/moderate case of OCD and I have very specific rituals/routines that I feel like I must do every day.  If my routine gets interrupted, I get extremely agitated and anxious.  It's part of the reason I don't want kids--they are way too spontaneous/unpredictable for me.  I wonder how many other people with OCD feel the same way?  And if people with OCD do have kids, I wonder if they are just absolutely miserable?

I do not have OCD, but some of my behaviors are very similar and have led me to think (in the past) I might have mild OCD.

I have ADHD and although I'm very upbeat/hyper, most people who know me through work or casually would never guess it.  I am VERY responsible, hyperorganized, somewhat of a perfectionist, etc.  But routines are what keep me this way.  I function like a person without ADHD because I have learned to compensate for my disorder through making detailed lists and developing routines and strict methods whenever possible.  Kids would NOT fit into that well at all.

I don't have OCD; I have CDO - similar to OCD except it's in alphabetical order like it's supposed to be! LOL

I am definitely most comfortable in a routine and there are some things I will go out of my way to correct ASAP (DH leaving the kitchen cabinets open is a huge peeve of mine!)

I don't know how I would tolerate having a young child in the house. Sometimes I can barely stand how DH and the dogs mess up my order. ;)

I've never been diagnosed with OCD but I do think I have some tendencies. I must have a certain level of ritual and routine in my life, and I get nervous just thinking about visiting places that are unfamiliar. I also have a significant need for quiet, calm, and personal time, and being CFBC with a DH who also is CFBC creates the ideal lifestyle for both of us. The older I get, the more I enjoy solitary activities or activities with just DH. I don't have a huge need to spend time with friends or cultivate significant friendships. I do much better with acquaintances where the commitment level is low.

I actually tend to get stressed out if my routine is too rigid.  I try to limit committing myself to more than one night a week of an activity that is at a certain time and day each week (for example, right now it's a dog obedience class, sometimes it might be an exercise class).  Luckily my job allows some flexibility - sometimes I go in at 7:30, sometimes 9.  I always figure if I had kids I would have no choice but to get them to daycare/school/activities on a regular schedule and it would drive me crazy!  Plus, as someone else said - I need lots of quiet "me" time where I don't have to answer to anyone else or do anything I don't want to.  Obviously there wouldn't be any time like that with kids.
