Online Dating

See my earlier post about adult dating sites.

I got to thinking about these sites, and how they work. Are the women who contact the men on these sites actually prostitutes? Honestly, I suppose there are women who are looking for casual hookups, but how could there be that many? From what I understand, the men outnumber women two to one on sites like match.com, and I assume most of these women are actually looking for a "relationship" not just a hookup. And of course, I know that plenty of people end up with a casual hookup off of match--either intentionally or unintentionally. So, what's the point, as a woman, of going to an adult site? Sorry to seem so clueless here.

Yes. For a hook up!

Do not kid yourself that there are any fewer (overall) women than men who want casual, no strings attached sex. Not all women are purely romantic creatures who want to be swept away by prince charming...some of us simply want a good lay (sorry, not trying to be crass, just honest).

As a professional and a student I know a lot of women who are married to their careers and dont want to take the time to form a serious relationship...they do however still want to ummm "get their freak on" so to speak. I used to be one of them!

Also, just because a woman is looking for Mr. Right does not mean she isn't also looking for Mr. Right Now. Finding Mr. Right can be a long long road....the occasional fling to satisfy needs or that itch is, IMHO, normal.

When I met DH (online) I knew that at some point I wanted to find my Mr. Right, fall in love and get married. But...at the time I was in no rush and was really only wanting a friend with benefits. Friends with benies lasted about the first date LOL....2 weeks later we moved in and were talking marriage. Strange things happen. :)

         

I have used adult sites for hookups before. There are probably 20 men or more to every one woman.

As to why, I just didn't want a relationship at the time, but I was lonely. I've met a couple of good friends from one of those sites, and even though we are no longer having sex (and haven't for years) we're still good friends. I also met a couple of women from the same site, so I know at least some of them are for real.

That said, I was told by my FWBs that most of the "women" on the site are actually bots and just give you a link to a webcam site or porn site.
