I have a healthy, stable relationship with a great guy whom I love. We've been together for a little less than a year. Thing is, his birthday is next month and Christmas is a month after that. He's a man's man, loves his cigars, loves music, cars and worked hard getting everything he's wanted...so what do I buy? Any suggestions for a gift that they've heard other guys have liked?

I know, silly question...

Thanks everyone reading this!

I have no idea...but I'll be eager to see the replies because I am in the same boat.  I'd love to get him something tangible and enduring as well as toughtful and romantic. THe things I do know he might like seem impersonal, pricey, or make strange gifts (big mixer for the kitchen, business card holder, espresso maker).  Why can't they be easy like us women and like flowers, candy, and jewelry?!?!:-D

My oldest son (23) says a watch is a good romantic gift for a guy but, I've noticed that not many men wear them anymore.

For his birthday, perhaps a card and a CD of his favorite artist, and for Christmas, maybe a nice humidor for his cigars?

You could also try posting this to our Guy Talk board to get more advice there, since there are a few men who hang out there regularly and should be able to provide some more suggestions for you.

Our Christmas board is another great place to get ideas.

My XH was a gadget FREAK. Nothing said ILY more than a remote control car or a new cell phone! He was fussy with clothing and didnt wear jewelry so i always had the problem of what to pick in the electronics store as it was all welcomed by the biggest kid God put breath into.

The "guy" present I've had the most success with over the years has been a credit-card case or wallet.

My brother liked the credit-card case because it is useful. My long-ago ex-boyfriend liked that I had his initials stamped on the leather of the wallet. My ex-husband liked that I looked for features in the cordura wallet that he liked.

The thing about a credit card case or wallet is that it is something that the guy has to keep with him at all times. And you can individualize it by choosing one that you think will appeal to him (perhaps with the logo of a sports team) or even his initials.

If I were in your shoes, I'd get a nice card case with his initials stamped on it and I might throw in a gift card to something like Best Buy if I was trying to give him a more expensive present than just the card case.

For the other present I might go with something to eat. Either I would bake something and package it cleverly (maybe throw in a bottle of wine and/or a CD you know he'll like) or I might order a food gift basket that would take into account his tastes. Sometimes these come with mugs or beer glasses or other things that can be permanent reminders of you after the food has been consumed.

Depending on your budget, what's available and his interests, concert tickets (that both of you can enjoy) to something he would like a lot, or tickets to a game he'd really enjoy seeing can also make great presents. (The trick is always to pick something you know the guy will enjoy.)

Just my two cents.
