Newest Addition to the family
Gavin Alexander Workman joined our family at 1019 am on Monday, September 14, 2009. He was 8 pounds, 3 ounces, and 21.5 inches long. He has tons of dark hair, and his eyes are dark blue right now. I included a couple of pictures below.
I went in for my c-section, and discovered that I was actually IN labor, but I just thought I was having more braxton-hicks from all the excitement. Anyway, the section went well, I watched it all in the reflection in the surgical lamp! I'll never forget seeing that sweet little face popping into view, all scrunched up and angry. It was truly an amazing experience to be able to watch my son being born.
I recovered very quickly - was moving my feet and legs about 45 minutes earlier than anyone expected (probably because they had trouble getting my spinal in, but it took beautifully). I was up and walking by 11 pm ~ the nurse finally took out my catheter, and disconnected the PCA pump. By the time she turned around to help me sit up, I was halfway to the bathroom.
I got to go home 2 days after my surgery - on Wednesday the 16th. Gavin is doing well, nursing like a vacuum and changing every day. He lets me sleep about 2 1/2 hours at a time at night, which is do-able, since it usually adds up to the 6-7 hours I was getting while pg.
Gail, I'll have to get you some pics for a new siggy! I've got a whole bunch to choose from...
Thanks Jami, for the prayers last Monday. Much appreciated!
