OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All I can say is NO WAY!  Not unless I had an undercover cop watching his every move from point A to point B.  I couldn't even imagine letting a 9yr old alone.  I don't even let my 10.5 year old go 2 blocks to the high school to ride his bike by himself.

I'm not a parent and I don't claim to know a thing about parenting....but I would never leave my child alone in NYC.  There are too many psychos in this world today.  I think it's important to allow independence, but there are other ways that you can do it!

I saw a story on the news about a mom letting a 9 yr old ride the subway, I thought it was to school, wonder if there is more than one story ? Or if I just wasn't listening very well.

Regardless, ummm not a chance in heck !

Ummm, no.  Actually no way in ---- is more like it.

Nevermind that I was only a couple years older when I took public transportation downtown and switched buses, etc in my town but my town was a sliver of the size of NYC.  I wouldn't even take public transportation in NYC alone, lol!  But I'm a small town girl and protective of my kids.
