Likely because it's now 2009 and many more people have access to lots of real world information on the work it takes to make a relationship work so they can make informed decisions for themselves.  More have opportunies to see and ask questions about relationship.  And if you want to start off on a good foot, you need to get to know your partner inside and outside the bedroom before making that lifetime commitment.  

I feel knowing your partner in all ways including sexually before making a life time commitment to each other is much more important than one's virginity. 

Why do you feel that sex isn't an important part in the growth of a developing relationship?

Many people put more value on the relationship by wantiing to give their relationship a better chance at surviving by knowing everything about each other instead of taking a chance, waiting for marriage and then finding out he/she is not the right partner.

What happens when the couple waits for marriage, they find out they are not sexually compatible and their sexual differences can't be worked out?
