I haven't been to a Halloween party since the mid-80s, back when I was in graduate school. One of my fellow students was having a party at his house and my best friend and I went. We had a blast. I went dressed as Stevie Nicks and my best friend went dressed as Scarlett O'Hara.

DH & I are Halloween fanatics!  We have tons of decorations inside and out, and are hosting a Halloween party as always, but it's not as "defined" as our other parties/BBQs throughout the year are.

Basically we have a Halloween open house for friends to come and go all evening.  It starts early, around 5 pm, and friends with young kids bring them by to trick or treat.  We have music and a lot of finger foods and punch (w/ and w/o alcohol) and continue opening the door to trick or treaters until late evening when the party becomes more "adult" (lots of drinking).  Sometimes we all watch cheesy horror movies too.

I'd say 2/3 of our friends dress in costume for the night.  DH & I almost always do.

This year I'm still not 100% sure what I'll dress up as for Halloween.  I am going to thrift stores tomorrow (as usual) and if something strikes my fancy I could have a change in my costume plans.  BUT for now I'm thinking I will just throw on my long, clip-on ponytail with a wide headband and 50's gear from a work event we had this Summer (cateye glasses, saddle shoes, etc), and a Peter pan collar top with either rolled jeans or navy blue Swiss dot capris.

DH is dressing up as the Big Lebowski, with a Navajo print sweater-robe thing, slobbish clothes, aviator shades, and a modified Jesus wig...oh and the requisite White Russian in hand! ;-D

Oh that sounds like so much fun,
Such a great idea to start it off so early like too!
I bet everyone has a terrific time.
The later time sounds right up my alley <wink>
Love what you might already dress as so far.
And DH sounds like he'll look awesome <g>
Do let us know if you find anything to change your costume.
If I were closer I would be there too, LOL
Have a blast as I bet you all will :)
