What does Thanksgiving mean to you?

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and we'd love to know: what does Thanksgiving mean to you? From grandma's pumpkin pie to sitting down to a big family dinner, what are your favorite Thanksgiving moments? Tell us about your best Thanksgiving memory, a family tradition or that special dish that makes the day complete. If only a picture will do your holiday table justice, post it here and let us see how you celebrate!

Thanksgiving is HUGE in my family.
I spend about 2 -3  days before Thanksgiving baking several desserts. Then 1 - 2 days before making all the cheeseballs, sweet potato, mashed potato, stuffing, usually a corn dish, a green veggie dish (I cant stand that green bean dish so I dont make that ha ha), gravy..........
Then Thanksgiving morning I throw the turkey into the oven.
I go way over the top for the holidays. I spend over $300 on food & I'm guessing 40 hours in the kitchen. But it all pays off when my family comes over and says how beautiful & delicious everything was.
The only thing I insist somebody else bring is Grandma must bring her cranberry crunch pie. That pie is sooooooo good & she knows how much I love it so she usually brings 2, 1 for the whole family to share & 1 just for me. She tells me to go hurry up and put it in the frig before anybody else sees it so I can enjoy all by myself!
But whats most important to me is the family time that we all get to spend together, its priceless.

Thanksgiving to me means a time to get together with family,
Normally every other year we go to California to be with DH's family.
This is the one we stay home where it will be the four of us.
Since my sons are *out* & *on their own* now ..
This year will be even more special .. Having the four of us together
DH & I make the meal starting the day before.
We go all out & make everything including the pumpkin pie.
We have an inside *roaster* .. where the turkey spins & cooks all day.
All we can do is watch & enjoy the smells, LOL
They say timing is important ..
We have it down pat to have everything hot & ready all on the table at once
My favorite Thanksgiving moments are the ones shared by being all together :)

My favorite Thanksgiving memory was created just a few years ago. I was born on my Daddy's 24th birthday on November 24th, so a few years ago, my 30th birthday fell on Thanksgiving Day. It was our first Thanksgiving in our new home and a milestone birthday, so we wanted to go all out with a big dinner for both hubby's family and mine to gather and celebrate all together in our new house. My Mama had also had surgery just before, and she was unable to host dinner at her house anyway, so it was the perfect time to get everyone together.

While my braised turkey was the star of the show (my brother-in-law said he was something of a turkey expert and that was the juiciest, most flavorful turkey he had ever eaten), and my Daddy and I ended up with some really great birthday presents, my favorite moment was when my youngest threw her arms around my neck and said, "This was the BEST Thanksgiving EVER! Our WHOLE FAMILY was here and they just love us SO much!" My oldest then gave me a hug and a kiss and said, "We are very blessed," and I couldn't agree more. :)
