I would absolutely say no.

I don't believe in marriage or co-habitation, period. He can deal with that or move on.

Re: the tax break... my SO (or I refer to him as my husband -not legally :) and I have acknowledged the tax break too... not sure how worth it it is. We don't have kids, not sure if we will. Right now we don't see any legal reason to be married. We feel married to each other and we live together.  As far as culture and social pressure go... we are fine living together. People will either see how much we love each other or they won't. Who does it really matter to anyway. :) we tell neighbors we're married and if we're out talking to random people we call each other husband/wife.

As far as the title question goes.. I think legal marriage is something that he and I will decide together. There won't be any scripts like "Will you marry me?"
