I am a woman and I happen to like sports a lot. Any sport - from football to cricket to curling. And I find that men don't always appreciate a woman who likes sport. I think they like having that little battle, or maybe just the space.

Some of them just pretend/bluff anyway. I've guys in my office who will walk away when I start talking football 'cause they've admitted that I know more than they do.

Has anyone else had similar experiences?

I know EXACTLY what you're talking about....I know more about hockey then most men I know....they look at me and they'll hear I'm a huge hockey fan and they think I'm just wanting to look at the guys or I'm just trying to sound cool...they think my jerseys must be my "boyfriend's"....then I start talking to them...I talk them under the table and they walk away with their tails between their legs---it's great!!  I'm getting that way with baseball to...but I'm not quite to level with baseball as I am with hockey:)

..Oh yea! I'm in 3 fantasy football leagues and am kicking the snot out of hubby and BIL in our shared league.

Isn't it fun when you ACE some know it all Jack*** @ work...usually Mr. Macho who's a pretender :-) LOL.

Our Sunday Ticket account is in my name; rocked the DTV guy who called to sell us the 'super fan' package; he introduced himself and asked if he could speak with "Mr...." when I asked him what name was on the account he said "Sara"; dead silence. Pretty darn funny!!

Most of my friends think it's weird, abnormal, or wonder if I don't have anything better to do on Sundays...

Here's the ploy, ladies... if you're a sports fan, that also entitles YOU to quality "do nothing" time on the couch on Sundays - a ha! My hubby and I rock/paper/scissors to get the laundry, dogs, etc. when the game is on... now that is gender equity :-)

Oh, gawd, do I!

Not only do I love sports (college football and hockey), so does my MOM!  That's where I got it.  When I started looking to date again after my divorce, the guy HAD to be a hockey fan.  Sure enough, that's what got my BF and I talking.  We don't like the same teams, though, which has set up an interesting bet for the season;

I'm a Ducks fan, he's a Sharks fan.  Whoever's team end up higher in the standings at the end of the season gets to barbeque the other's mascot for dinner.  Anyone have any good ideas on how to cook shark?

We've sat and watched football together, he watched more baseball this year than he ever has before, we sit and yap sports and stats over dinner (did this Sunday during the Pats game).  What can I say, I found another sports geek! LOL!

(PS - I see you, Heidi!  I'm sorry I haven't posted...life intervened!  I had to dump Tkachuk off my fantasy team because he can't stay healthy.  Hope your Bluesmen turn this ship around!)
