I thought I had posted an update to this saga, but I didn't. So here it is...I pulled it off the AP website, via WBIR.com. There are more articles out there, but I don't want to beat the poor horse to death.

I have to ask, how did he get away with doing this until now? I'm not bothered as much as I am disgusted by his mindset, because what people think does not always go with what a law says, whether it's a state or federal law, or just a rule of a job.

Outrage grows over decision by Louisiana justice of the peace

Louisiana's governor and a U.S. senator are joining the call for the ouster of a local Louisiana official who refused to marry an interracial couple.

Republican Gov. Bobby Jindal and Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu say justice of the peace Keith Bardwell has clearly broken the law. Jindal has issued a statement saying that "disciplinary action should be taken immediately." He also wants Bardwell's license revoked.

Sen. Landrieu says Bardwell's decision directly contradicts Supreme Court rulings. She calls it an example of "ugly bigotry."

Bardwell's actions have prompted calls for an investigation or resignation from civil and constitutional rights groups, as well as from Louisiana's Legislative Black Caucus.

I saw an interview with that JOP and he said repeatedly that he was concerned about their children, which just made me gag because it just was SO obviously a cop out that he thinks makes his racist stance sound better. Besides, being of mixed race doesn't necessarily mean the children will NOT be accepted any more than being of one race means the children WILL be. Some people are jerks regardless.

They're discussing this on In the News, too.
