I actually think sometimes Oprah's endorsement has the opposite effect on me.  It's not that I dislike her but when everyone's running out all crazed to get something or try a new diet, see a certain blockbuster, etc, it makes me run in the other direction.

The only thing that Oprah influences for me on a regular basis is when I'm shopping at garage sales or thrift stores and I see an "Oprah's Book Club" pick.  I always buy those if they're cheap, because I know that the odds are good I'll be able to swap it via Paperbackswap for a book I'm interested in.

Not really. 

I don't buy something just because its the thing to buy at that moment.  I don't go see movies just because its THE movie to see at that moment.

The only thing I listen to that she recommends are her book club selections.  I've read quite a few of them, and have liked most. 

I'm not going to buy something just because someone, celeb or not, recommends it.  Especially if its not something I'd ever need/use.

It has the opposite effect on me too. Whatever she might be recommending, I don't want.
