And my nerves are completely shot & I'm pretty shaken up because of the hard impact.  I'm not hurt, but my breastbone hurts and is really sore from the seatbelt grabbing me.  I wasn't at fault, though!  I was at the stop sign and at a stop w/my blinker on to turn left and I was driving the truck.  As I turned left, someone ran the stop sign and plowed into the passenger/bed side of the truck and omg, I tried my dangdest to avoid this guy from hitting me.  He hit me so hard that the truck span and it finally stopped and my hands were just clinched to the sterring wheel and he busted out one of the windows.  When the truck finally stopped I was just in shock and couldn't breathe and was just in tears.  The guy that hit me, admitted it was his fault, he admitted to the cop he ran the stop sign and he wasn't paying attention and an eye witness said the same thing; it was his fault and not mine because I was at a full stop w/my blinker on.  Lucking a cop was there and saw the whole thing and the cop was really nice to me and told me the same thing, "honey, it's not your fault, you did nothing wrong, he was out of it, I'm going to ticket him for running a redlight/stop sign."  Luckily the guy that hit me has insurance and my dad has the truck insured as well.  I've already contacted both insurance companies and waiting to hear back from the insured's insurance company.  I don't know if my dad's truck is going to be declared a total loss or not.  I'm still really nervous and shaking like a leaf.  I didn't want to go to the hospital because I'm walking and talking just fine.  The guy that hit me was driving a new Chevrolet Silverado.  The cop told me it was a blessing I was still alive because he said if I had been in a regular car, with an impact that hard, I'd wound up being rushed to Vanderbilt.  He said it was miracle I was alright and I did the right thing by wearing my seat belt.  But he kept telling me I wasn't at fault and the guy that hit me admitted he ran the stop sign and plowed into me and an eye witness stated the same thing.

I don't mean to ramble, but I haven't been in a wreck in ten years and I'm just all tore up.  Hear I am concerned more about sheet metal than my own life because I'm inbetween vehicles right now and my father was letting me drive his truck since mine is kind of on the fritz.  The guy that hit me, his insurance will have to provide me w/a rental car regardless, that is what my dad's insurance co. told me.  If I could just breathe and try to calm down, I think I will be ok.

GET YOUR BUTT TO A DOCTOR!!

You need to get checked out just in case, especially since it was the other guy's fault. You will, I promise, be very sore tomorrow, and you will want to have some ibuprofin, at least, on hand.

Prayers for you and in thanksgiving that the truck is the only thing bent.

Most definitely let the insurance companies fight things out...

Thank you so much hun, it means a lot to me. I got lots of Ibuprofen so I will definitely be taking some of that. I don't feel as sore, still kind of shooken up a bit. I just cant get out of my head how hard the kid hit me, he is 18 years old and he was driving a truck, too. The cop said I wasn't at fault, the witness said I wasn't at fault, and he who hit me told me he wasn't paying attention and his mind was in another world. *sigh* I've contacted his insurance company and mine. My ins company told me that his ins company, since he is the one at fault, has to take care of it all and they have to give me a rental car regardless. I may not hear from the adjuster until tomorrow and I'm off from work today & tomorrow. If I still dont get a hold of a rental car by Monday, I can work from home.

Thanks hun for the support & kind words. I'll definitely keep everyone updated. ((((HUGS))))

Hun got to the doctor!! You may not realize that you have pulled your neck out of place or brused you breast bone from the seatbelt. The pain can get very bad. I was in wreck a few years ago that the seatbelt dod more damage than the wreck itsself. The insurance will pay for the visit. If not the doctor go to a chiropractor. Your body can not sustain the force that the wreck caused with out some kind of damage. I am so glad you weren't hurt badly thuogh as I would miss you so much!!!! Get better and rest, YOu are in my prayers!!!!

Well here is the latest, I tried going to the ER last night and wound up going to THREE different hospitals here in Nashville, all which were at full capacity and short staffed, so needless to say, I never got seen by a doctor :-/ I went to St. Thomas, both ER waiting rooms were completely full, no seats to sit in and there were even folks standing to be waited on. Only one lady was working by herself, one ER doctor and seven nurses. I left and tore up my intake form and tossed it in the trash. Drove over to Baptist, it was completely full too and they as well, were short staffed! Drove a couple of blocks down to Centennial Med Cntr, their ER waiting room looked empty so I thought maybe this was a good thing. NOT. I filled out my intake form and put it in the slot to wait for the lady to call. This was 8:00PM last night. I waited and she finally called me back and it was 8:50PM. She took my temp, blood pressure and stuff. I asked her if she needed to make a copy of my ins card and to collect my co-pay. She said no that one of the admitting ladies would call me back for that info. I went back out in the waiting area, this was 9PM, an hour went by and they still hadn't called me back to make a copy of my ins card and collect my co-pay. I finally got up and grabbed my parking stub and went to the admitting window and told them to validate it for me. She asked me if I had been discharged and I said no. The two girls were just sitting there reading magazines! I told them I had been sitting in the waiting area for an hour, waiting to be called back so they could make a copy of my ins card and collect my co-pay, they just looked at me. They said they couldn't validate my ticket because I hadn't been seen, I said, "and what did I just tell you?" she finally validated it and I was so furious I just left. I got home around 10:30 last night. I guess it wasn't meant for me to go to the ER last night. But I tell you this, I'm calling my doc office Monday because my whole upper body is in pain and it feels like it's on fire. This ain't fun :-(

And then I spoke to his insurance adjuster, and he said they won't send anyone out there to look at my truck until Monday or Tuesday, and what really upset me was that he pretty much indicated they are going to declare my dad's truck a total loss. I thought, that is not fair!!! You haven't even gone by to look at it yet and he asked me what year it was, I told the adjuster it's a '99 Nissan Frontier King Cab and he went on to tell me to let my father to know to go ahead and get the title of the truck so they can make an offer at the end of the week. I'm thinking, you haven't gone by to even see the truck and you are already declaring it a total loss, how could you?!!!! I tried my dangdest to prevent him from hitting the engine of the truck so it wouldn't be totalled and he hit the passenger side instead. It cannot be declared a total loss, esp when they haven't even gone by to look at it!!!

I know the officer told me if I had been in a regular car, I would have been killed, but that is my dad's truck and I was using it to get back and forth to work because my 13 yo Sentra is kind of on the fritz,....and I just don't know. One minute I'm ok and the next minute I'm just breaking down because they can't declare that truck a total loss because I turned the truck in such a way when I saw him run the stop sign to prevent him from hitting the engine. I just don't know :-(
