Hey everybody - it's awfully quiet here.

What's keeping you busy? Looking forward to any fun holiday/ fall/ winter plans?

If you have or are making holiday plans, is it more or less difficult to deal with now that you're married?

It IS quiet around here. Lurkers - come out, come out wherever you are.

C.'s son has been living with us (unexpectedly, following some drama with his mom) full time since the beginning of October and will be at least through Thanksgiving, so that's been the biggest thing keeping us busy.

Halloween was huge at our house because of C.'s kids (DSS8 and DSD5). They didn't talk about anything else for weeks. Now, their thoughts begin to turn to Christmas and toys -- but I love Thanksgiving, so I will make sure that holiday doesn't get trampled on.

I THINK we have figured out the holidays. We have been talking about it for weeks. Both of our families live within an hour of us, so we're compromising about our respective routines. We'll be going to C.'s sister's house for Thanksgiving -- it will be the two of us, the kids, C.'s sister and C's mom, I think.

Christmas Day, we'll be at my parents' house and at least one of my sisters will be there with her DH and kids. I am hoping the other sister will be, as well.

C. and I both have large extended families. Both of our families usually do huge gatherings (20+ people - ugh, noise and chaos) for Christmas, and I am trying to avoid all of that.

I'd rather focus on our own parents, our siblings, my nephews and C.'s kids -- and see all the cousins, aunts, uncles, etc. at another time not related to a holiday. This desire is causing a little friction (because it's "new" for both of us), but I think now is a good time to start new traditions.

Fingers crossed. Mellow and relaxed is what I am going for this holiday season.

We've been busy working on the house/trying to get things settled. It's been interesting, to say the least. Every time we think we have the hard stuff out of the way, something new pops up.

The holidays are going to be interesting, since Sean has to work at least Thanksgiving or Christmas, if not both. Once we get his schedule, we'll try to figure out when we can see everyone. Everything is happening at the same time, but our families are only about 30 minutes apart, so hopefully we'll be able to see them all.

We don't have definite holiday plans either. For us, all our family is pretty far away. I know we'll be seeing DH's family the week before Thanksgiving for a funeral, plus his dad is coming back from Europe for that. It would be really easy for us to just stay through T-giving but I don't want to and DH doesn't want to, either.

I'm looking forward to seeing some family, though. I just saw my parents a few weeks ago at my brother's wedding, and I think I'd like to live closer to them, or even the in-laws. It's a little lonely here, plus it's been a rough week with a sick cat.

Have a great weekend!
