I wasn't planning on adopting a puppy but life happens and I am now the proud owner of a female Chihuahua puppy we've named Autum.

I was a big breed owner in the past (husky & chowchow) so this is new territory for me. I think I'm a little scared.

BF's older brother had a dog with a litter and was looking for good homes.  My dd9 has been asking for a dog since she could talk and has always had a preference for the small breeds.  BF was taking one and convinced me to go for it.

I wish I had video of the moment when BF handed her the puppy - the fat man in the red suit couldn't have gotten a better response.  Since that moment, she has matured and taken on the responsibility of caring for this puppy.  I have to say I'm very proud of her.  On the first night, when I was tucking her in, she looked at me and said "am I dreaming mom, will the puppy still be here in the morning?"  Broke my heart.

Fast forward, BF couldn't keep his puppy because of his current living arrangements (long story).  Now I also have Autum's brother, Tank.  I definitely wasn't thinking two dogs but, I'm finding that both puppies are easier than just one.  They keep each other company and both seem happier since the reunion.

So, as I embark on this new journey, do any of you have any advice.  I've done the puppy thing before but that was so loooong ago.  Am I crazy for keeping the two?  I think I'm having a moment of hysteria (and they've been really good!)

Those two tiny dogs won't add up to one big one even when they are grown...go for it!  You'll appreciate the tiny poops-lol.  If you feel like a refresher course is a good idea maybe take a puppy training class with your daughter.  I'll bet she'd love that.

Not to change the subject, but how did X react to email?

I think puppy classes are a great idea, though I admit, my "puppy" is now eleven months old and 80 pounds and I still have to take her.

Is it alright to tell you that I cracked up that you have a Chiuaua named Tank.

Good Luck!

Thanks,  I think dd would enjoy a class.  She's already reading the books I got.

As for X, no response.  We'll just have to wait and see if he respects the request.  He does have a history of ignoring my wishes.  Some time ago I specifically asked him not to send e-mails as texts to my cell phone.  I would only get part of the message and since the e-mails were considered out of network, I risked getting charged.  He still does it so I have blocked his e-mail address from my phone (obvioulsy, he can still send an e-mail to my e-mail or a text from his phone to mine).  Sigh!  Was I asking something soooo difficult?

Anyhow, HI SHADOWZ!  How ya doin?  The BF named Tank (by the way Autumn with the n is the correct spelling - my dd9 pointed out my mistake teeheehee I suck at spelling).  Tank actually looks like a miniature Pit Bull - not like a Chihuahua at all.  They are really sweet.  My dd was bringing pictures to her dad's house tonight - hmmm wonder how he's going to react when he finds out who gave her the dog.

TWO puppies?  *sniff*

Wishing you luck.  I don't have a puppy.  *sob* I have no advice.  Well, except for hug them and squeeze them and pet them a lot.  Because you can.  Anytime you want to.  *sob*

I'm not jealous though.  I mean, I have four cats after all, and they're just as good as a puppy.  Really they are.  You can hardly even tell the difference!

(You can totally tell the difference.  *sniff*)

;)
