Hi,
I need help-we are going through a separation-more than likely a divorce, but for the past 12 yrs i lost the true me. I was so much more interested (and it was easier) in doing and being everything to everyone else that now i do not know who i am anymore. So now i know that was a mistake, and i want to do things that are good for me, that i like and that i want.
So what did any of you do that helped, that took your mind off of the situation and that gave you strength to keep moving on!

I know how you feel.  I divorced after almost 11 yrs of marriage and I felt the same way. I was so caught up in pleasing him and the family that I lost sight of myself and my goals.  Since divorcing I have forced on myself more.  I think that I am a better mother and a much better me.  I completed by MBA and have received promotions on my job.  I set life changing goals.  I decided that it's ok not having a man in my life.  I now actually have a date night with myself. On this night I do things that I enjoy.  I pamper myself.  Treat yourself the way you want others to treat you. 

I must also add that my ex has taken notice of the changes in me and now realizes what he lost, but now I really am not interested in him.  He is now having a hard time dealing with the fact that I am over him.

I too am going through the same thing - finding myself again.  Here are my suggestions:

1.  Do things that you do well - whether it's creating something (like, artwork) or doing something (like singing or dancing).

2.  Yoga

3.  Read about topics you are interested in, or watch movies on these topics if you prefer.  You will feel empowered because you are educated on them.

4.  Take a class - whether it's online, thru your local community college or agricultural extension service, or your local craft store or hardware store!

5.  Connect with friends from long ago, if you can, even if it's only thru email or facebook.
