I got a text from my DD today saying "Today I saw a colon resection. It was really cool." Yeah, that's not exactly what I would be saying, I would be passing out. But the blood & guts part of nursing doesn't bother her. But I guess that would be really exciting, the first time you see an actual surgery.
When my DS was born I was offered the option to look at mine, and of course I jumped at the opportunity. The nurse was so cool, she showed me the sac and the cord and all the vessels and everything. It was so so neat.
When I had my first C-section, I remember my ex (who had been a Medic in the army) was looking at everything w/ interest. I think the doctor asked me if I wanted to watch in a mirror--I was like "no way."
Awesome!! Good for her. I bring nursing students into the OR all the time. Every once in a while we get one that wants to work here. They get an internship and then end up getting hired. It's been working out great. We're fully staffed for the first time in years.
