Hey y'all,

I am a recent college graduate, and I am so lost on what to do in life. I am sure many of you out there feel the same way.

I am having a difficult time finding a job, and as of now I am living at home with my parents and substitute teaching as a means of income.

I have been searching for a job for the past 4 months and have not found many entry level jobs for my field of study. It is very discouraging, especially when other friends are getting jobs. I have been looking for jobs both here in the States, as well as abroad.

Right now I am stuck at a crossroad and don't know what to do. Do any of you have advice for keeping morale up? Please feel free to add your own stories!

Kaitlyn

I graduated college spring 08 and was lost too! I looked for a job for months. I worked in the office at a high school for the time, and I was still looking for a "real job". So I decided this summer to get my real estate license and now I work for a real estate company. I have noticed a few job openings on careerbuilder lately. You might could check that out. Good Luck!! I'm sure you will find something soon.

Hi Kaitlyn and welcome to the board! I'm sorry you're having such a time of it, but unfortunately the economy just stinks right now, so jobs are scarce in many areas. That said, have you thought about going to your local employment agency (career center)? or to a local temp agency?

I was about to recommend the Job Seekers' Support Group, but I see you're already posting there. :)

Hi Kaitlyn,

What is your area of study?  Involving yourself in professional organizations that are related to your field of study can help you network with people who can get you in contact with the right people. I graduated in 2005 when the economy was much bettef than it was today.  At that time it took me six months to find an entry level position in my desired field.  Hang in there, you'll find something.

Good luck!

I think you are doing just fine!  I think the world right now is in a tough place and people can't find the type of jobs that they want or in their field so they are taking work and exploring other areas.

I think that it takes a while (especially with teaching positions), but you just have to stay active, keep your eyes and ears open for anything, network with people that you know who are teachers, and just keep swimming.  I know it sounds hard, but it'll happen, just sometimes you have to go through a lot of barriers before you find what oyu are lookign for!

Keep us updated on how things are going and best of luck to you!
