Understanding Men

I know that, as the one being told this, to back off and give him the space he needs.... I agree totally.
But WHY does he need the space.... is this a real attempt for him to figure out how his heart is feeling, or just a simple, easy way to remove you from his life?

I know what it means when women say it.... but what about men?

My interpretation of "I need space" from either gender means "I don't think we're suited, but I'm too gutless/insecure to break up with you".

Personally, if a guy asked me for space, I'd end the relationship. Give him permanent space. There's no way I'd waste time sitting around waiting for a guy to figure out whether or not he wants to be with me.

Only the person asking for space knows exactly why they are saying it, however, if he's saying it, then rest assured that regardless of what the specific reason is, he's somehow unhappy with the relationship as it is to the point of wanting to be away from the dynamic of it.

In any case, give him the space he's asking for.  If he's asked for an inch, give him a mile of it.

My boyfirend of 15months said the same thing to me"I need space" and I did give him space.2weeks after the "I need space" talk he calls me 3 consecutive days with different messages ,anyway long story short I have'nt met him in a month and the last he called me was about a week ago,I do miss him as I do love him and his birthday is on the 10th,I'm not sure if I should call him to wish him for his Bday or not.Any opinion?
