He prefers to sleep in the buff.

When we are not intimate (sex), my bf prefers to sleep in the buff. He has no pj's and underwear. He owns maybe one pair of boxers. I prefer to sleep in pj's when not intimate. He does not care if I sleep in the buff or not. One morning, I woke up and found the sheets dirty on his side. Another reason to wear pj's, underwear, boxers..Is this normal for a guy wanting to sleep in the buff all the time? As he gets older, he will need to alter his buff ways, if you know what I mean. You know, 'once a parent, twice a child'. He says it is comfortable for him to sleep in the buff not to mention save on clothing costs. He does not wear underwear under his pants either. Is this normal, do I need to be concerned? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks

I can't think of anything to be concerned about. But I guess that's because I also avoid underwear when possible.

I'm a woman and have slept in the buff for many, many years. Hubby wore boxers in bed when we met, but he's now discarded them and also sleeps naked. It's comfortable.

Your boyfriend may not want to change sleeping naked when kids come along. Having children (now 12 and 10yo) has not altered the way I sleep. Sure, when I get up, I put something on. Or if a child is sick and I expect to be up and down all night, I'll also wear sleepwear. But if I'm not expecting to be disturbed, I'll sleep how I'm comfortable. Occasionally I will be unexpectedly disturbed in the night, but I simply get up and put a robe on. To my kids, this is normal and they don't think twice about my nakedness.

I've not heard the expression "once a parent, twice a child". Not sure what it means.

You mentioned the sheets dirty on his side, but you didn't say how they were dirty. If you mean with fecal matter...then it's not about underwear...it's more about him needing to clean himself properly.

No underwear with his trousers? The only problem I could see is him needing to wash his trousers more often. Or risking getting his foreskin, penis or testicles stuck in his zip. But if this doesn't bother him, I don't see any particular issue.

I am almost past child bearing age and he has two kids from a previous marriage that are grown up. No plans for kids. About the dirty sheets, fecal matter. yuck...The underlwearless situation, does not bother him either. As for the expression, 'once a parent, twice a child' refers to dependence on others. When you were a baby, you wore diapers, when you get old and cannot control your bladder, you wear depends. Your parents had to put the diapers on you and change them, same with depends with an elderly person. Now, if he starts to wet the bed, then I will discuss the situation with him delicately.

Thanks for the input. Just wanted to make sure this was normal.

Ohhh, now I understand. When you mentioned 'parent' I thought you were talking about parenthood.

Hon, not all old people become incontinent. I think you're worrying way before you need to. And it may never happen.

However, if he does become incontinent in his old age.....unless he's gone completely senile, he'll figure out the need for diapers himself. And if he is completely senile, it's likely he'll be in a nursing home anyway.

Why would this be something to worry about?

If your biggest concern is what your SO wears in bed, I'd say you're doing pretty well ;o)
