Hi there!

We are in a similar situation.  We live in Ohio and are planning a wedding in Massachusetts where we are from.  We are driving up the week before the wedding but immediately afterwards we are leaving for our honeymoon in VA and don't want to lug presents around with us all week or risk leaving them in the hotel room. 

I've talked to my mom and my grandmother - the family gossip - and asked them to polietly spread the word that we'd really like people NOT to bring big gifts to the wedding.  No matter what, though, people are going to do it anyways.  My parents have offered to take everyone back to their house and then ship it to us once we get back in Ohio as their wedding gift to us.
