I don't know if this is the right board for this question, but it does affect our planning a lot!

I'm doing the hair for myself (MOH) and all the bridesmaids and helping out with the makeup for all of us plus the bride.  We're all getting manis & pedis in the morning and then the bride will remain at the salon to get her hair done while the rest of us leave to get ready.  When the bride returns I'll do her makeup and help her dress.

So, here's my dilemma: Should I do everyone's hair or makeup first?  We're doing an updo I've done many times, a double bun, and I know it lasts for hours.  On the other hand, we're going to have some loose tendrils that might make it tough to do the makeup.  Usually I put on my own makeup first and then do my hair when going out on the town, but it seems like we will be asking an awful lot of our makeup if we put it on so early.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

I personally have always done hair first.  It makes my face too hot to be running the blow dryer, etc when I'm already wearing make-up!

I'd go with doing their hair first, you can always fix the tendrils, if needed, after doing their make-up.

I think that's a good point, although we won't be using hair dryers.  Since it's an updo I'm banning everyone from washing their hair that morning! lol  It will also be a sort of tight style, so we don't need to add volume, kind of on the ballerina side.

You gave me an idea, though.  I could bring soft headbands to pull back the loose hair and get them off without messing up the style, then do the curls on the tendrils (for the 2 of us who need it) when the makeup is done.  Make sense?

Thanks, Melissa!

We did both at once. While some were getting the hair done the others did the make-up.
All our make-up & hair stayed just fine from about 1-2 till the end of the wedding....10 -11

Just have a small compact/lipstick for a touch-up if needed as well as a comb and a little hairspray if needed. I assume you guys aren't going mud wrestling before hand.. = )

No worries... you all will look Be-u-ti-ful !!!

I agree with Melissa, but just make sure the girls have all washed and dried their hair before you start with their makeup.
