I love entertaining and the holiday season especially puts me in the mood to throw an impromptue gathering or two. But like many with families, my budget has to be considered, so I'm always on the lookout for ideas to help me stretch a buck. With family and friends, we often get together for a bring your own covered dish gathering, which can really be fun and not cost anyone an arm and a leg.  And with an abundance of pinetrees here in Louisiana, pinecones and greenery for decorating is a simple stroll through the woods.

I found some great ideas on one of the Today Show segment on how to throw a party for 20 for under $200. I really loved the suggestion of hitting a dollar store for supplies; we have a local Dollar Tree where I'm a normally a weekly shopper. This close to the holidays, I'm usually in there at least twice as often -- with a little hunting and imagination, it can be a treasure trove! LOL

I absolutely LOVE the idea of a chocolate tasting party... YUM! Are you planning any parties and/or have any ideas to share?

I was never good with decorating for the occasion, so I save on not doing it, LOL.

While in college I had a coffee & dessert party.  Everyone brought a favorite dessert & I provide more desserts & coffee.  We got doughnuts, cupcakes, candy bars, cookies, cakes that cost around $3, cakes that cost over $30, a good variety of pies, all kinds of sweets at all price ranges.  We drank & ate & chatted & played video games all afternoon.  As sick as we got from too much sugar & caffeine, we had tons of fun & great memories.

Sounds wonderful! After all, when it comes right down to it, a truly successful party is the one that create the best memories! ;-)
