I was watching the latest Street Talk Videos, where they ask people on the street what they love and hate about the holidays. I thought those were pretty good questions to pose to all of you! It'll give us a chance to get some of the "bad vibes" out and give voice to the good things that make the holidays such a special occasion to each of us.
For me, I hate the moments when I realize that some of my loved ones are no longer around to take part in our family gatherings. I hate the long lines at stores and the fact that I've got a limited amount of time to indulge in my favorite Christmas candy...chocolate covered cherries! (Yes, I know that they'll be back next year for Valentine's Day, but it's just the thought that I have to wait! LOL)
While I hate the long lines in stores, I do enjoy talking to many people I find myself next to; it seems to me that more people are willing to chat with complete strangers when sharing the wait during holiday shopping. I love having my family together, all sharing in the spirit of the season. The nights sitting around the fireplace, looking at the decorated tree, drinking cocoa and just enjoying being with each other. The laughter and fun we have shopping, wrapping and then opening presents, working together to get the food on the table, singing and talking for hours. And I certainly enjoy the afternoon nap I manage to sneak in on Christmas Day...when your kids get up before sunrise, the afternoon nap is a must! ;-)
May your own holiday season be filled with all the things you love!
