Are magzine models too skinny?

Well said! I would also love to see variety normalized. I think we've come a really long way since the 60's and 70's in having a bigger variety re: hair color, length, ethnicity, facial features. But I'd like to see even more.
There is one magazine that has a section along the lines of "What I love about me" (I think it might be Marie Claire?) Anyway I would always read that bit, with real (non model) women and their photos and quotes, and it was so freaking COOL and IMHO the women were often just as prettier or prettier than models, even with their individual "flaws" and quirks!
But actually I voted "no" in the polls because I think fashion modeling is a job where the women are expected to look like stick insects and I don't see that really changing. I do think it's sad that we're all taught to look at that as the ideal and/or norm. But the models themselves aren't too skinny as a general rule...they are being paid to look a certain way in the clothing, and with some exceptions I think they tend to be very tall and skinny people anyway. Sure some of them may starve themselves and do other unhealthy things to "get there" and maintain that body - but I think most of them are inclined to extremes like that, and would likely do it whether they're a model or an exec or a bank teller or SAHM or whatever. I know a lot of women like that. If they are already a model and are told to lose weight, maybe it is time for a new career or to go back to school. JMHO!
