Hot Rollers?

I really want to be able to style my hair curly, and I'm no good with a curling iron. I bought a set of hot rollers, and have been pretty unsuccessful with those too. The biggest problem I've had to far is keeping them in my head.

The set I bought came with those metal pins that are supposed to hold the roller in place, but I can't seem to get those to work. I bought some hot roller clips at a beauty supply store. They don't grip the roller well either, so they kind of hang a little bit. Is there a certain way to use those pins so they will actually hold the roller in place?

Also, what kind of styling products should I be using and when should I apply them?

hi!

What brand of curlers are they? Did they come with instructions on how to use the pins? They are all a little different. How you roll them, and how you set them will determine the type of curl you get (tighter, looser, wavier, etc). You can use a thermal styling spray before you use the curlers, and then add it after you've got the curlers in. Flexible hold hairspray works too, I prefer the thermal spray though. I bet there are videos on youtube, but after playing with them for a while is the best way to learn. If you use the pins or clip under the roller, they will be tighter on the scalp, and it it's on top of the roller, it will be looser and give a more modern take. It all kind of depends on the look you want. Once you get the hang of it, I bet you'll never use a curling iron again.
