The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics is a public health organization that promotes safe chemicals in our cosmetics. On the website you can read about the latest scientific findings and search a database for your favorite products to find out how safe they are. The organization's initiative is to get companies to remove/replace toxic chemicals in their products and educate the public ultimately to push for reform.

It's scary what they allow in cosmetics.  Lead in lipstick?  Can you imagine how many people kiss their babies with lead-tainted lipstick?  I don't wear very much make-up but I always make sure that the make-up that I do wear is toxin-free.

What gets me is that a lot of these companies will say there were negligible amounts of this or that in them, but, duh, hello, if we're using tons of products with "negligible amounts" then there's a sum at the end of the day amongst all the products that IS significant. Where's the logic in having crud of any kind in the products.
