A true chemical should NOT take 3 hours, not even an hour. I'm an esthetician and I do peels on people. A true chemical peel should be started out on the skin for 2 minutes, then each peel after can go up in time according to the client's tolerance and skin reaction. You can put products on the skin that have glycolic acid in them that can stay on the skin but the amounts of acid are small enough that it's fine, but actual peels are too strong to keep on the skin for that long. The line that I use, Image Skin Care, the max time is 15 minutes.

Glycolic Acid was the strongest peel I've used and I've never had it on my skin for more than 5 minutes - EVER.  I've done up to 10 minutes with Lactic Acid Peels.

I started out doing Glycolic Peels for about 3 minutes, with a minimum of 7-10 days between treatments.  I'm curious to see what the result was on the skin after having that on your face for 3 hours.  I'd think deep burns requiring hospitalization!
