Tragus piercing anyone??

I got my tragus pierced (that little piece of your ear that stick off from your head) about a month and a half ago. For some reason, it's still sore.. It's not sore all the time though, some days it'll be perfectly fine and the next day it's sore. It seems to only be the front of the piercing that gets sore though. I wash it once in the morning while in the shower with Dial. I wash it last thing before I get out of the shower to make sure I'm washing away any shampoo/conditioner/face wash etc that may have gotten near it. And that's about all I do. If I think of it I'll do a sea salt soak during the day, but honestly, I usually only do them when it's sore. It's a very awkward place to "soak", I've found the best way to do it is mix some up in a mug and use a medicine syringe to slowly squirt on the piercing. (If anyone has a better way, by all means share!!) I can't figure out why it's still bothering me. Does anyone else have any experience with tragus piercings?? I figured it would be a long, difficult healing process, but I'm getting worried that it's just not going to heal.. That totally bums me out because I've wanted this piercing for SO long!! And yes, I did get it done at a reputable piercing place with a needle.  (My sister and brother both recommend them, in fact my sister got her belly button done the same time I did my tragus). It's a very well known business in the area. I'm not new to the "piercing world" at all, I've got my tongue, belly, and nose done and have had them for many years now.. I've never had any issues that sea salt soaks didn't solve.. So I'm pretty stumped here. =( Can anyone help?? ~Beck

It's one of those piercings that takes FOREVER plus a day to heal.

It's like the industrial I got. A year later it still is sore several days a week if I sleep on it wrong or my hair gets caught in it.

A month in it's no where near healed. At 6 or 8 weeks it might be "mostly" healed but it's going to require babying for a LONG time. Cartilage doesn't have a lot of blood flow so it just takes a long time to heal. Your tongue healed pretty quickly I bet and that's because there's a lot of blood in your tongue to help heal it.

So is there anything special I can do to help it through other than the sea salt?? I have a very short pixie cut, so I don't have to worry about my hair getting caught in it. And I sleep with my hand by ear, almost cupping my ear, so as not to put my ear straight onto my pillow.. Other than that I can't really think of anything else to do. I have started just filling a mug with salt water and sticking my entire ear in the cup.. It's not very comfortable but I think it does a better job than just using the medicine syringe.. I'm just so worried that it's not going heal and I'm SO in love with this piercing, I'd be so bummed to have to take it out. =(

BTW, Good luck with your industrial! I think those are SO cute!

Nope SSS once a day (maybe twice but no more or you'll dry it out).

They just take a LOOONG time to heal. I love my industrial so I baby it. I'm used to it being sore too ;)

That's a thick little bump and in an awkward place to get to. That puts strain on the piercing. It's only a month and a half old. Give it a bit more time. :)
