I've recently started taking Taekwon-do and we've been told that all jewelry should be removed. I don't have any problem with removing my rings, watch and any necklaces. But, some of my earrings just are such a pain and almost impossible to put back in. And I'm not really worried about any of them getting ripped out (except for the conch and that is easy to remove).

I have 3 seamless hoops in my left ear which I won't be removing. I also have 3 tiny barbells in my left ear..I could remove them, but they are such a pain to get back in.

In my right earis my conch quite, which as I've said I can remove easily, same as the 2nd hole in the lobe. The first hole has a plug it in (only 8g or something), and I'm sort of worried it will try to close enough that I can't put the plug back in.

My nose ring I won't bother with as I know if it does accidentally get ripped out, it doesn't hurt (I've done it to myself without even realizing it) and I have spare jewelry for it if it breaks.

What should I do? Should I remove what I can and not worry about the rest? Or should I think about getting new jewerly (could be fun) so that I can remove them twice a week as needed? Ugh.

Hey lady...great to see you again!

I'm probably not the best person to answer, seeing as I only have single piercings in my ears and I even take earrings when I'm getting my hair cut and styled! LOL But I wonder if the suggestion to remove all jewelry is not just because of the possibilty of piercings being torn loose, but maybe also the possibilty of injury from someone accidently stepping or slipping on a piece that's come off...kwim?

I say use it as a reason to shop for new jewelry regardless! After all, how often do you have such a prefectly logical reason to indulge? Don't let it slip away unused! ;-)

How are you enjoying the class so far?

Hi Brenda!!

I'm just the opposite, I never take my earrings out. I can't remember the last time I've taken them out. I finally found earrings I like and then I have just ignored them since.

I do like the idea of getting new earrings, but as I said, I like what I have. Also, I would have no idea what I'd want to have instead..or where to find something I'd like. Well, probably online would have something. :)

I'm loving Taekwon-do! Bruises, aches and pains and all!
