I'm (amazingly) still at my job almost two years this coming January.
I feel I have a good handle with things now. Although Pres still tosses me a curve ball every now and then, which I really dislike!

Overall, I feel like I come across as a flake. Each day now I wonder if Pres thinks I'm a flake and if the ax will soon one day fall for me. Like it has with every job I've held. Guess that is how I've come to think now. ??

Hey bluemoon,
How are things for you??

Hi Bluepen,

I was wondering about you. Haven't heard from you in ages. I don't check here too often anymore - every two weeks or so - so I'm glad I found your post.

I am very glad that you are still employed, even if it isn't a dream job. Even the jobs that I loved were not perfect.

Don't worry about being considered a "flake" because that is very subjective. Besides, everyone is flaky in one way or another. Who does not have some kind of quirk? :)

I think quirkiness and flakiness are good traits because it makes us more real, genuine and lovable, as long as the flakiness isn't violent or dangerous or related to drugs or drinking. If that were the case, it would need to be addressed and corrected.

I am loving where I moved and been busy setting up two businesses. One of them is a fun, interactive website that is on hold because the host is changing the server and will mess up the site temporarily. So, I have to wait until that transition is complete and make sure everything is working okay before it can "go live". (I can't reveal anything about before it goes live.)

The other business is a virtual admin service. I finished the website and am working on matching promotional materials (business cards and brochures) for a mailing to announce that I am officially in business. It will probably take a while to get that established.

I really need a successful home-based business so that my schedule can be flexible enough for me to visit my family. I don't want to be restricted and have a boss deny me visitation rights - especially since my parents are getting older and I want to be available for them.

Thanks for being so uplifting. I've always appreciated your support and point of view.

Your businesses sound so INTERESTING!! What's the virtual admin. one like? Looking forward to hearing about the other when you are ready.
I'm glad to hear you are enjoying the south. :)

Hey...

I am sure you are not a " flake".  One persons idea of a flake may not be anothers.  Your boss may not ( probably not ) doesn't see it that way or cares.

Kind of like that piece of hair that is out of place that you know the whole world see's....that only you see...

Obvioulsy being there 2 years is a good thing.......

No worries... be happy....

Thanks, Blue!

A virtual admin service is an administrative assistant from a home-based office.

I have a fully loaded home office, including a fax, copier, scanner, postage meter and a computer with all kinds of abilities: word processing (mail merges, etc.), PowerPoint presentations, databases, spreadsheets, creative projects (newsletters, flyers), web design and maintenance. I offer file conversions of all types, PDF editing and creating ... anything that can be done from a remote office.

I've done this in the past on a part-time basis and had steady clients. Now I'd like to build it to a full-time business.

This time, I set up my website so that customers can log into their accounts to view the projects that are being worked on and how long the project is taking. (Or they can call me, of course.)
