Hi,
I am a rn and now working nights. My mil had been watching daniel while i sleep but recently had a small stroke. Which scared the crap out of me. She was not with daniel and she is fine, but thought of if she had been alone with Daniel! So the deal was for my mil and fil to be with him only short periods alone and to watch him together. But i still feel uncertain they both are in there 70's and well daniel is an energetic 2yr old. They have told me how much they love watching him and thats it not a problem for them. Well i went looking for daycare. I found a daycare which i liked but ended up not working out. I need a place that will be flexible with my schedule. The place i had signed up for now expects full payment for the month of September plus my deposit..even though daniel has never set foot in there!!!!!!! IS this common practice? I dont have that kind of money to throw at the wind.
Anway I continue my search of daycares, but nothing is satisfying me... the one i went to yesterday was so dirty outside. The toys were disgusting!!!!!!! I know its outside and hard to clean up all the toys as there in dirt but just was unexceptable for me. The inside was very clean with hand sanitizer, and some one clean up when i came in and no shoes aloud. It was also in a crapy neighborhood. So i am now going to another daycare this am. I just have so much guilt and its hard to sort through my feeling to see if these daycares will work. any adv or thoughts?

Best of luck. It's not easy finding a daycare that fits all your needs. Do you have a neighbor who is willing to do daycare for your child? At least they would be able to be a little more flexable for you.

I wonder if you could swap with someone. You need to sleep 7am till 2pm? Someone could watch your son, then when school gets out at 2pm, you could watch their child until whenever. You'd be getting more babysitting than them so maybe a stipend besides the hours?
