Seems a epidemic of another kind is being blamed on the swine flu as people are using the influenza bug as an excuse for everything from ditching dates to taking days off at work or school. Since the public is now being told to avoid the doctor's office and emergency rooms if possible, many are seeing it as a chance to take a few days off with no questions asked!

Just not something I could do... I'm a total believer that Karma comes back at ya...

I can't remember a time I called in sick when I wasn't. If I need a day off or half a day off, I ask. I've never been told no, so there's no reason to lie.

ITA! Not a good idea at all.

I'll be honest, I've exaggerated my symptoms before and taken a day off from work when I was only somewhat sick.  This may sound like justification lol...but I honestly think in those cases I've helped prevent becoming VERY ill by resting up and taking medicine etc.

One thing I can't do is take the day off work "sick" and then go have fun.  I would feel guilty and paranoid.  It wouldn't be very fun for me at all!  I'd rather plan in advance and just take a vacation day or two (for fun)!

I agree that is not something I would ever think of doing. It's just not right and like you, I wouldn't want that bad karma coming back to me ;o) On a side note, my oldest has been sick for 15 days now and with what at first they told us was mild swine flu but then she developed the most horrible sore throat I have ever seen and had to go to the ER on Sunday and be put on steroids. Turns out she has mono. Poor kid has been a mess for a couple weeks now not to mention she is in her first year of college (living at home though thank God) and missing classes :o(

Same here; I've never been turned down about taking time off for any reason. I'd just rather be upfront about things; it makes life so much easier! LOL
