If you and your spouse work, how do you divide up household duties?  Do you have specific chores that you each do and agreed to? Have each of you been able to hold up your end with the household chores?

Ha Ha!  Ha Ha!  LOL.....oh, what was the question again.  Oh yeah!  Dividing up household chores.  HA HA!  Don't get me started again.

Okay, even when I was working outside of the house, it was pretty much all me....except for the garbage, and I often end up helping out with that one too, although DH is usually (about 90% of the time) the one to drag the garbage out to the curb.

Sometimes I don't think he gets it that even though I'm at home, I'm working....I spend about 2 hours each morning working - that's after getting the kids dressed and to schoo/preschool on time and then back home.  That 2 hours of solid working usually brings me right up to the time that I need to pick up my youngest from preschool.  Then we get home and have lunch - really this takes about 45 minutes (preschoolers are slow eaters).  I'm usually doing the morning dishes while he finishes up.  Hmmm, by then its already 1:30, and then I've only got 1.5 hours before we have to leave to pick up DS#1.  Some days that's grocery time, or vacuuming time, or bathroom cleaning, or the never ending laundry.  It just never seems like the whole house is clean at any given time.

I usually let the boys play at the school playground for 45 min., then its home to cook dinner, cleanup after dinner, get the boys to swim lessons or soccer practice, help with homework, do bath, treats, teeth brushing, and tuck them in --- while DH relaxes and watches his TV shows, or is still out playing soccer or basketball.

Again, I don't think he really gets it.  I'm running all day.....sorry if I forgot to pick up milk and have to have you stop at the corner store to pick it up.....

My "luxury" in life is that I have someone come in and clean. She comes twice a month. She is beyond fantastic!!! So we do have to pick up and vacuum inbetween, but she does the yucky stuff...well yucky to me LOL.

The kids help with dishes, but yes I often have to nag LOL. They help with garbage, yes I have to nag. They are each responsible for one of the bathrooms.

It just all works out.

DH is pretty good about helping with chores.

Here's our list of responsibilities in a nutshell:

Me

Laundry, dishes, supper, bathroom, office, bills and paperwork

DH

Outside yard, vehicles, breakfast and lunch for the kids, basement, vaccuming (i hate it), the pizza shop, and anything that requires muscles.

Nicholas (13)

Bedroom, laundry, bathroom,

Alyssa (8)

Feed the cat, her bedroom, her laundry, dusting.

Everything else, we just kind of do when we see it needs to be done.

I've been having my kids pitch in more and more. I think since they are getting older they can help. My husband does help out but it seems I always have to remind him of what needs done, which drives me crazy, lol...
